Join Us

SingSoc is a non-audition society open to students and staff from The University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University, and also to residents from the local area. We are a very active society, giving our members plenty of opportunities to perform a wide range of repertoire, give something back to the community, and go on lots of fabulous socials. With four different choirs to choose from, there is lots to get involved with!

SingSoc membership is open throughout the year and can be bought in rehearsals from our Membership and Inclusion officer. We encourage potential new members to attend a rehearsal to get a feel for the choir(s) before buying membership.

Membership in 2023/24 costs:

Academic Year: £35 (student) / £45 (non-student)

One semester: £20 (student) / £26 (non-student)

Membership of the society includes:

Weekly rehearsals directed and accompanied by professional musicians
Refreshments at all rehearsals (bring a mug!)
Rehearse and perform a varied and exciting range of music
SingSoc performs in 3-4 dedicated concerts each year
A range of volunteering activities based around singing
A wide variety of society socials (from relaxed post-rehearsal pub sessions to karaoke socials - see our Facebook members group for more details)
All music hire

Once you've filled it out and paid your membership fee, come to a rehearsal and speak to our Membership Officer to get your keyring and membership number.
